Plumber Lead

This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
About the Role
Lead and support plumbers and trade workers in the repair, maintenance, and installation of campus plumbing systems. Plan schedules, inspect work, estimate materials and labor, and ensure timely project completion.
Responsibilities
- Leads the work of Journey-level Plumbers and Trades Helpers and participates in the repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation of systems and Journey-level crafts projects.
- Assigns and inspects the work of Plumbers and Trades Helpers; initiates corrective action to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion.
- Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Determines material and labor estimates.
- Participates in maintenance, repair, and installation duties in the trades.
Requirements
- High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience or an Associate’s Degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications
- NM Journeyman Plumbing License.
- NM Journeyman Gas Fitter License.
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity. Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Pay
Target hourly rate: $21.11
Schedule
Standard (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM)
