About the role
Presbyterian is hiring a skilled Plumber to be responsible for the installations and repairs of plumbing service equipment including piping, drain, and fixtures. This role involves planning, coordinating, controlling, and performing Facility Maintenance operations to ensure an uninterrupted flow of utilities based upon existing design criteria, with a major emphasis on preventative and predictive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Work with little or no supervision and limited direction from specialized trades.
- Use refrigeration test equipment including test gauges, refrigerant recovery systems, and hand tools to perform work.
- Perform installations and repairs of refrigerated equipment and other generally accepted refrigeration jobs.
- Perform installations and repairs of plumbing service equipment including piping, drains, fixtures, and other generally accepted plumbing jobs.
- Use plumbing service equipment including snakes, powered snakes, brazing equipment, soldering equipment, threading machines, and hand tools appropriately to perform work.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures on fixtures and equipment within a predetermined zone in a timely manner as prescribed in Facility Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Perform repairs, lubrication, and adjustment on all hospital equipment to ensure a comfortable and safe environment.
- Prioritize tasks and methods with independence to operate within established PHS and Facility Services policies, procedures, and schedules.
- Evaluate and monitor the performance of building and utility systems in assigned zones.
- Know, understand, and adhere to PHS and Department Policies and Procedures.
- Improve technical knowledge and skills through participation in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Understand department operating budget and suggest methods to reduce maintenance costs.
- Develop plans and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs within the department.
- Serve as a resource to departments within the zone in facility maintenance operations.
- Support organizational visions, values, and strategies.
- Conduct periodic rounds in assigned areas.
- Read and interpret blueprints, codes, and other associated documents to complete jobs.
- Perform routine and urgent maintenance requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- NM Journeyman Plumber or New Mexico Journeyman Pipefitter (JPF) license required.
- 3 to 5 years of plumbing work experience and the ability to perform general maintenance duties as assigned, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Must have a valid NM driver’s license and be insurable.
