Core Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and repair of various facilities as indicated on daily work orders.
- Orders materials needed to complete jobs.
- Lays out and installs plumbing to comply with plumbing codes.
- Performs testing procedures to troubleshoot electromechanical systems on campus building equipment.
- Repairs and maintains laundry equipment.
- Assists with installation, maintenance and repair of boilers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning systems and gas fueled equipment.
- Maintains fire protection equipment.
- Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested, including, but not limited to: snow removal, event set-up and clean-up, truck loading and unloading, grounds maintenance.
- Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with Middlebury College and departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Licenses or ability to obtain Propane and Natural Gas certifications, Oil heat silver technical training or ability to obtain.
- A licensed Master Plumber is required.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, gas and electrical systems preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressively complex experience in Plumbing trade is required; 10 years is preferred.
- A driver's license, clean driving record, and vehicle for transportation of self, tools and for procuring small materials is required.
- Furnishing own hand tools for plumbing/mechanical work is required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotational schedule.
- Flexible shifts and overtime as required.
- Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of regular or rotating work shift.
- Requires frequent standing, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders, twisting, reaching, pushing or pulling.
