Essential Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in compliance with service, warranty, and maintenance standards.
- Inspects new plumbing installations including water systems, water heaters, circulating pumps, and electrical heating units.
- Plans, coordinates, and installs plumbing and piping projects with little supervision.
- Performs daily repairs of plumbing and piping systems, such as drainage waste and vents, non-potable water systems, and underground utilities.
- Reads blueprints to determine proper operations of system and provide feedback during design and construction phase.
- Practices safety rules related to plumbing.
- Unclogs and cleans sanitary and storm drains; unclogs and cleans basin traps and water closets.
- Services and repairs circulating pumps and tricherators; sewage and storm water lift stations.
- Adjusts, repairs/replaces flushometer, vacuum breakers, leaking pipes, clean and repair sump pumps.
- Repairs and replaces faucets, valves, check valves, etc.
- Inspects and assists with maintenance and testing of fire protection systems.
- Completes emergency shutoff of campus irrigation systems.
- Assists in the cleaning of drain systems and sewer channels.
- Operates sewer vac and jetter.
- Performs soldering, brazing and welding.
- Replaces and repairs paper towel dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, soap dispensing systems.
- Performs maintenance on oil water separators.
- Tests and repairs backflow preventors.
- Affords assistance with dispatch activities on third shift, including monitoring dispatch phone, signing out keys, and processing forms needed by contractors.
- Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
- Follows all safety regulations.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Characteristics
- Plumbing: Knowledge of procedures and equipment of plumbing, to include calculating volumes, areas, and flow rates to properly size water and drainage pipes.
- Lock Out-Tag Out Procedures: Knowledge of lock out-tag out procedures for safeguarding employees from hazards.
- Electrical Facilities and Equipment: Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes pertaining to electrical or airfield facilities and equipment.
- Mechanical Systems: Knowledge of techniques and safety practices used in the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Fire Safety Equipment: Knowledge of fire safety equipment, including the installation, maintenance, and testing of alarms and sprinklers.
- Mathematics: Knowledge of standard calculations and mathematics.
- Scheduling: Knowledge of developing and monitoring monthly work schedules.
- Welding Trade: Knowledge of the methods, materials, and terminology used in brazing and soldering.
- Communication: Skill in communicating effectively at all levels of the organization and with stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
- Equipment Maintenance: Skill in identifying the need for and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Hand Tools: Skill in using hand tools and equipment such as electric drills, saws, and jack hammers.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman Plumbing certification, Plumbing certification or Military comparable or similar training.
- 2-4 years of related experience.
