Responsibilities
- Safety: Demonstrates an understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire safety policy, knows personal role in the event of a fire while on duty.
- Emergency Response: Availability for on call duty when / as required. Works additional hours if required, including occasional shift changes due to work assignments. Participates in availability for unscheduled Emergencies when they occur. Participates in Facilities On-Call Weekly scheduled program.
- Facilities Systems & Equipment: Performs skilled Plumbing work. Demonstrates skilled use of the computer facility management software system. Performs semi-skilled HVAC work. Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures. Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, and repairs or replaces components of the Plumbing system. Services and repairs the more complex Plumbing equipment. Schedules and maintains records of maintenance repairs. In-services facility workers on required utility maintenance procedures when needed. Responds to calls for emergency repairs off of normal working hours. Performs and documents scheduled inspections to maintain conformance to code requirements. Performs and documents equipment repairs and tests new and repaired equipment before it is put into service. Trains staff in operation and repair of equipment.
- Facilities Support: Submits completed work requests on a daily basis. Provides comments to manager(s) when anticipated work delays occur. Completes daily work orders as assigned by facility Manager(s) in a timely manner. Completes assigned preventive maintenance work on time. Completes assigned rounds when required. Ability to comprehend construction drawings and specifications. Ability to apply drawings to work at hand. Understands the equipment submittal process and operation manual filing system. Participates in keeping system in order for department use. Ability to properly estimate labor hours and materials for project work. Assists Facility manager(s) in finalizing estimated project costs. Properly fills out purchase requisitions for materials and includes department(s) materials are to be allocated to. Calls vendors for pricing proposals and researches most cost-effective choices. Submits purchase requisition in a timely fashion to facility manager for approval. Participates in keeping track of project labor and material costs during assigned projects, to assure project stays within estimate.
- Information Management: Accurately uses the hospital information system to enter and retrieve maintenance related data. Demonstrates knowledge of the work order system.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma / GED
- Experience: Experience in Plumbing with a minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience related to facilities engineering practices, or 5 years of relevant commercial work history in one of the above disciplines.
- Licensure: Ability to work towards obtaining NYS Backflow Preventer Certification, Medical Gas ASSE 6040 certifications.
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requirements also include climbing, bending, and the ability to get into tight spaces while working off a ladder.

Pay
$29.00 to $37.00 Per Hour Plus Benefits
Schedule
Days FLEX. Anticipate schedule is 1st (First) Shift. Flexibility to work weekends, rotating holidays and alternative shifts according to department needs.
