About the role

The Plumber position at CSUN is part of the Student Housing team, focusing on residential facilities. The role involves performing skilled plumbing work, responding to service requests, completing preventive maintenance, repairing plumbing systems and fixtures, assisting with installations and projects, maintaining equipment, and supporting after-hours operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Processes daily ticket requests for plumbing services for Student Housing, including the University Village.
  • Performs repairs/replacement or disposals of faucets, sinks, shower valves, toilets, auxiliary accessories, washroom, lavatory, and shower equipment.
  • Makes necessary repairs to domestic water supply systems; services gas and utility equipment, water closets, tankless boilers, and related devices; fire protection system sprinklers; and all related piping systems.
  • Serves and maintains the preventative maintenance program.
  • Supports other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard plumber's apprenticeship program.
  • LICENSE: Candidate must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Experience as a journeyman plumber is highly desired.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of plumbing systems, repair techniques, and applicable safety regulations to diagnose issues, complete repairs and replacements, install plumbing components, and ensure compliance with building codes and workplace safety standards.
  • Skills in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing plumbing fixtures and equipment, including faucets, sinks, toilets, shower valves, lavatory fixtures, and related components, while responding efficiently to routine service requests and emergency situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple work orders in a fast-paced residential environment, communicate building utility system conditions effectively, coordinate material and supply needs, and maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with skilled trades personnel while operating carts and motor vehicles safely, providing responsive customer service, adapting to changing operational priorities, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-maintained Student Housing community.

The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $5998 - $6754 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5998 - $8737 per month.

The pay for this position is $5998 - $6754 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5998 - $8737 per month. The work schedule is Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. May include evenings and weekends. This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
