Job Summary
Performs a full range of plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work across University facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant operations.
Responsibilities
- Assembles, installs, and repairs pipe systems, tubing, and fittings using a variety of methods such as soldering, brazing, welding, and mechanical connections.
- Installs and services plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, and related components.
- Tests plumbing systems by filling with air or water and monitors pressure gauges to detect leaks and deficiencies; diagnoses and resolves issues such as clogs, leaks, and system malfunctions; and performs drain cleaning and system restoration.
- Reviews blueprints, building codes, and technical specifications to determine appropriate work methods and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and University standards.
- Estimates labor, time, and material requirements for projects and requisitions necessary supplies and equipment.
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with established safety procedures and maintains a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Placement within the Plumber II-III levels, as well as corresponding compensation, is determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
