Plug & Die Tooling Technician

Responsibilities

• Setup, program, and operate CNC and manual grinding equipment used to manufacture precision plugs, dies, and related tooling required for copper tube drawing operations.
• Support the production process by ensuring tooling is manufactured, maintained, and repaired to precise dimensional and surface specifications.
• Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to produce high-precision tooling used in drawing operations.
• Works under the supervision of the P&D Tooling Supervisor and supports the overall toolroom operations through precision machining, tooling maintenance, and collaboration with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Vocational training in machining, toolmaking, or related field is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and shop mathematics.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within tight tolerances.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with engineering and production teams.
• Preferred experience operating CNC grinding machines or similar precision machining equipment.
• Experience in tooling manufacturing for tube drawing or metal forming processes.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and machine parameter optimization.
• Experience in manufacturing environments supporting continuous production operations.
