About the role
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company dedicated to transforming military capabilities with advanced technology. We bring the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st-century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, aiming to accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technologies.
Responsibilities
- You don't just know how to use the tools—you know the tips, tricks, and workarounds that make engineers 10x more productive
- You get energy from helping others succeed and light up when someone has that "aha moment" during training
- You create training content that people actually want to use because it's clear, practical, and solves real problems
- You form recommendations based on deep experimentation and hands-on testing, not just what the manual says
- When you discover a better way, you change course quickly and update your recommendations without ego
- You seek feedback from users and iterate on your processes based on real-world results
- You understand how data moves through our various downstream systems and optimize data flow
- You are able to identify overlapping capabilities and optimize for global organization
- You will work with a high-functioning team of engineers in various cross-functional teams with an emphasis on identifying and finishing business-critical projects
- You will help troubleshoot technical issues including those related with deployment, configuration and ongoing support
Required Characteristics
- Bias for Action - asks for forgiveness, not permission, and hates the idea of waiting around to be told what to do
- Outcome-Oriented - determines what benefits the business needs and works backwards from those outcomes. Abhors the antiquated IT concept of "system availability"
- Customer Focused - displays user empathy to boost engagement and build experiences that delight
- Strong Product Sense - knows when in the product’s lifecycle to focus on optimizing the end user experience and when to focus on enterprise-level functionality
- Dive Deep - sweats the details and rolls up their sleeves to uncover the root causes for systemic issues, whether technical or user-related
- Ownership - cares deeply not just about their products, but for all the business outcomes that their systems support as well, holding themselves accountable for everything it both does and fails to do
- Agility - changes directions easily and without regret, quickly adapting to shifting business priorities
- First Principles Thinking - approaches problems and develops solutions not based on what a vendor recommends or because it’s how they did things at their last job, but from a deep appreciation of what is best for the enterprise
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a design engineering role building products, ideally in a fast-paced environment
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent education/work experience)
- Prioritizes solutions that deliver immediate value to engineers over perfect but complex approaches
- Understands that adoption is as important as capability—best process is the one people actually use
- Deep expertise in at least one engineering discipline and its associated tool stack (CAD, CAE, PLM, or discipline-specific applications)
- Strong understanding of engineering workflows from concept through production
- Hands-on experience using engineering design tools and can quickly learn new platforms
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and find practical solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using a wide array of engineering design tools across multiple disciplines
- Training, instructional design, or technical education experience
- Basic knowledge of scripting, automation, or tool customization
- Understanding of data flow between engineering systems (CAD, PLM, ERP, MES)
- Experience in startup, defense, aerospace, or high-growth manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.) and their integration with design tools
- Experience in startup, defense, aerospace, or high-growth manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile)
