PLC Technician
About the role
Responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, and participating in preventative maintenance activities (both routine and project based).
Ensures proper PLC functionality through routine checks and assistance in PLC programming.
All work will be completed in compliance with Hydro safety policies, EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supports and sponsors all continuous reliability improvement standards and practices
- Implements preventative maintenance measures
- Maintains inventory of repair equipment and supplies
- Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary
- Responds quickly in the event of an emergency, notifies appropriate personnel and follows safety protocol
- Performs routine checks of PLC software/hardware to ensure proper functionality of the automated controls within the Extrusion Presses and rack-handling systems
- Engages in continuous improvement and risk-prevention initiatives by crafting and installing new controls as needed (i.e. guarding on equipment)
Requirements
- Good understanding of PLC software
- Fulfills applicable Job Safety Analysis and Work Instructions
- Understands and follows all safety policies
- Able to work set schedule for full 12-hour shift
- Works in both hot and cold conditions
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- PLC certification required
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance/PLC experience preferred
- Electrical, Hydraulic, and/or Pneumatic schooling/certificates plus
- Basic computer application skills
- Understanding of PLC functionality
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to use power tools and other industrial maintenance equipment
- Basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic applications
Skills
- Preferred: Electrical, Hydraulic, and/or Pneumatic schooling/certificates
- Basic computer application skills
