About the Role

We are seeking an Instrument and Controls Technician for our service center in Pasadena, TX. This facility supports our mobile assets and water treatment chemicals business. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the Technician will be classified as a Non-Exempt employee.

The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, a team-oriented mindset, and proficiency in math. Previous experience in a similar role, particularly within water treatment and chemical facilities, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment such as motors, variable frequency drives, motorized valves, etc.
  • Perform continuity, Megger, or ground fault testing.
  • Maintain Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI for machine-mounted controls.
  • Calibrate instruments, analyzers, and valve positioners.
  • Advise on spare parts maintenance and inventory.
  • Prepare calibration and maintenance reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors for work requiring outside expertise.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Act as the electrical maintenance lead and schedule preventative maintenance for all electrical and electronic components in the facility and rental assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and HMI.
  • Experience with modern instrumentation and control equipment, including transmitters, automatic valves, analyzers, sensors, and VFD.
  • Ability to monitor the performance of rotating equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks or projects.
  • Apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Attention to detail and a collaborative team-player mindset.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of relevant experience.
  • Technical school degree preferred.
  • Operating and troubleshooting experience at an industrial water treatment plant with one or more of the following technologies: Pre-treatment (P.T), Demineralization (DM), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Ultra-filtration, EDI, Thermal Desalination, and Zero-Liquid Discharge.
  • Hazwoper safety training or certification is a plus.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The role involves sedentary work with sitting most of the time, along with limited walking and standing.
