Essential Functions
- Makes rounds to monitor behavior of students in the lunchroom, on the playground, and classrooms.
- Moves about to provide constant supervision for student safety.
- Makes observations of student activities for inappropriate behaviors such as bullying, unsafe activities, rough play, etc.
- Reminds students of expectations based on school procedures.
- Refers students for disciplinary action for inappropriate behaviors to administration.
- Inspects playground for hazardous equipment or materials and ensures safe entry and exit.
- Is the first and last person on the playground to ensure student safety.
Non-Essential Functions
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to deescalate potential volatile situations.
- Can remain calm during emergencies.
Required Education and Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- No prior experience is required.
Assigned Decision Making
- Determines if students should be reported to teachers or administrators for inappropriate behaviors.
- Makes decisions to move students to safety in case of emergency situations.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stands, walks, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, and crouches.
- Occasionally climbs or balances.
- Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
