About the role
Provides information and assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner to ensure the delivery of guest service. Offers information on activities and directs guests for further information as necessary. Creates and enters player tracking cards on-site, online, and digitally. Makes payments on winning tickets accurately and timely; verifies tickets and payoffs. Maintains a cash bank for assigned shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change. Exchanges cash and coins in accordance with established procedures. Reconciles bank at the end of each shift following established cash handling policies. Counts down bank or window at shift end and completes all required shift paperwork according to internal control standards. Records cash transactions required by Federal Law. Issues and receives payments, including cashing personal and traveler’s checks in compliance with approved procedures. Processes lottery transactions and pari-mutuel wagers efficiently and accurately in the tote system. Explains wagering rules, betting lines, and odds to guests. Writes, verifies, and makes payments on sports wager tickets in accordance with department policy and jurisdictional gaming regulations. Enforces all gaming laws and regulations applicable to the role. Manages guest situations, responds promptly to guest needs, and seeks feedback to improve service. Stocks stations with adequate supplies and keeps all stations neat and clean.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General cashiering background or prior money handling experience preferred.
- Previous experience in race and sportsbook preferred.
- Working knowledge of sports and tote system for placing customer bets.
- Efficiency and accuracy in entering guest wagers and paying out winners.
- Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions under pressure.
- Ability to learn and comply with department, property, and regulatory policies.
- Must qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English (e.g., safety rules, operating instructions).
- Verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to perform calculations involving American money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Basic computer skills and ability to operate an adding machine.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, including the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Surveillance and audio surveillance in limited areas; performance may be observed and recorded.

Pay
Starting salary: $13.25 per hour. Initial placement within the salary range is based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is one component of a competitive Total Rewards package.
