Play/Child Mental Health Therapist

About the role

Ellie Mental Health is a fast-growing, multi-clinic mental health organization focused on removing the administrative barriers that get in the way of providing exceptional client care. We are seeking a dedicated and creative Play Therapist who excels at using play therapy approaches with children ages 3–12. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions for emotional and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Complete diagnostic assessments using the DSM-5
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans
• Maintain a caseload of 27+ sessions/week (for full-time clinicians)
• Provide child-centered, creative, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Work flexible hours—including mornings, evenings, and weekends—to meet community needs
• Collaborate with families, school staff, medical providers, and Ellie team members
• Participate in marketing and referral development activities
• Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner
• Attend and participate in clinical meetings and trainings
• Use EHR systems and office technology proficiently

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a behavioral science or related field (from an accredited institution)
• Pre-licensed: LPC-Associate, LMSW, LMFT-Associate (must have at least 2 years of experience and be actively pursuing licensure)
• Fully licensed: LPC, LCSW, LMFT (with or without an existing caseload)
• 1–2 years of experience providing individual therapy to children ages 3–12
• Strong knowledge of play therapy techniques, approaches, and methodologies
• Ability to assess and treat children’s mental health needs using developmentally appropriate interventions

• Strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions for emotional and behavioral needs
• Ability to work in a supportive, fun, and clinician-first environment
• Enjoy collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Passionate about providing high-quality, child-centered care
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
