About the Role
The Play & Learn Assistant works under the direction of the Play & Learn Coordinator to implement curriculum and program activities in the Play & Learn Room. This role focuses on the supervision and development of children, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy environment.

Responsibilities
- Ensure all participants are within sight and sound of YMCA leaders.
- Assure compliance with state and local regulations related to program areas.
- Ensure program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents and related organizations/agencies.
- Stay current with development trends in the community and surrounding areas.
- Model relationship-building skills, including "Listen First," in all interactions.
- Assist in classrooms during staff shortages or to resolve parent/child situations.
- Provide high-quality service for members, adhering to Member Experience expectations.
- Maintain upkeep of assigned program rooms and equipment to support a healthy environment.
- Keep proper records, develop statistical reports, and ensure facilities meet requirements.
- Follow emergency procedures, safety precautions, and report accidents, incidents, and hazards.
- Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
- Obtain and maintain required training certifications.
- Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Obtain hands-on Pediatric, Child, and Adult First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Physically capable of observing and listening for stressful situations at all times.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and quickly respond to prevent harm.
- Physical stamina to perform outlined duties.
- Reliable transportation.
