Plating Technician (2nd Shift)
About the Role
Noveon Magnetics is looking for a Plating Technician with 3+ years of experience in surface finishing for direct manufacturing and commercialization. Expertise in electroplating metals and metallic alloys in aqueous solutions, pre-treatment, cleaning, pickling, Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu, epoxy, and diagnosis and failure analysis of coatings is required. This role will assist in electroplating and corrosion-resistance plating processes on pilot and production lines.
Responsibilities
- Assist the plating engineer in developing wet processes, as well as related racking and testing procedures to produce high-quality coatings and plating on magnet products.
- Assist in processing production work orders, as well as recording and reporting of data.
- Perform visual inspections, control plating thickness, and ensure product quality.
- Maintain proper plating bath chemistries, including performance of chemical titrations, basic controller, and measurement operations.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance work and record and report equipment deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Manage storage of materials, supplies, reports, corrosion tests, data, and data analysis.
- Work with senior engineers to run experiments and help implement improvements and modifications to the plating line.
- Support the QC team in sampling analysis for process and product quality.
Requirements
- A basic understanding of pretreatment and wet processes for coating and plating.
- Ability to use Excel to create and populate production data.
- Knowledge of safe methods of handling materials and chemicals.
- Comfort with measurement equipment such as micrometers, pH meters, and measuring scopes.
- Associate degree with 2+ years of work experience.
- Experience with wet processes for coating/plating Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu, and epoxy is preferred.
- Experience with chemical titrations is preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to move up to 50 lbs.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical, and, if applicable, visual testing.
- Able to move up to 50 lbs.
- Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
- Can wear PPE.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
- Capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.
