Platform Software Engineer 1

About the role

Executes well-defined platform tasks under close supervision, such as basic updates to SDKs or client libraries and simple observability instrumentation. Follows established middleware patterns and coding standards to fix routine issues and support safe, backward-compatible changes. Monitors basic platform metrics and API usage within a limited scope. Contributes to documentation by refining examples and reference snippets.

Responsibilities

• Platform Software Development: Implement basic updates to SDKs/client libraries and instrumentation aligned to established platform patterns. Triage routine platform issues using playbooks; safeguard backward compatibility on simple changes. Contribute small documentation improvements (samples, config snippets) for platform adoption.
• Software Development and Coding:
  • Implement simple software solutions with supervision.
  • Adhere to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Assist with creating and reviewing code for new software features and enhancements following design specifications; develop documents to clarify software design and code.
  • Conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix simple software issues.
  • Develop fixes for identified issues.
  • Assist with implementing software testing (e.g., functional testing) and quality assurance processes.
  • Conduct or follow software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging, following detailed instructions.
  • Support the implementation of performance profiling and optimization of coding within a defined scope.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues related to application programming interface (API) functionality and integration.
  • Assist with implementing API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
• Issue/Defect Collaboration & Support:
  • Communicate with own team to understand customer issues and align solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding customer-reported issues, with direct supervision.
  • Identify customers' interests and suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
  • Assist team to ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and effective communication.
  • Acquire basic knowledge of customer issue and/or defect handling and training processes.
  • Collaborate with experienced colleagues to investigate and troubleshoot product maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on short- and long-term solutions.
• Practices and Standards Compliance:
  • Follow detailed guidance from team related to development practices and coding standards.
  • Ensure code quality and adherence to broad acceptance criteria during development.
  • Learn about industry best practices and how to apply them to software development processes.
  • Acquire knowledge about secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.
• Development Operations & System Maintenance:
  • Support basic periodic maintenance and testing operations for systems that require upgrading or patching (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities).
  • Acquire knowledge for driving improvements, ensuring automation, testing, and debugging of systems to ensure service/product availability, health, support, and reliability.
• Planning & Execution:
  • Complete assigned tasks and monitor timelines to ensure timely completion of work in accordance with project requirements, with supervision.
  • Follow direction to prioritize work and adjust to shifts in resources or timelines.
• Collaboration & Partnership:
  • Collaborate with team members to better understand expectations and contribute to shared objectives.
  • Build basic understanding of business, stakeholder, and/or customer needs with guidance.
• Problem Solving:
  • Follow standard procedures to identify and escalate issues to senior team members.
  • Collect and review basic data and/or information to troubleshoot common errors.
• Continuous Learning:
  • Build knowledge and learn new skills and/or tools aligned with industry trends and best practices as directed.
  • Incorporate feedback and participate in training to improve skills.
• Continuous Improvement: Begin to identify ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows with guidance.

Qualifications

Certain U.S. based or U.S. customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization/occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing requirements.

Pay

Hiring range in USD from: $74,100 - $148,300 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

  • Flexible Vacation for salaried employees (non-overtime eligible): 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years. Accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
