Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Platform Infrastructure / Multi-Cloud Software Engineer to help build and operate production-grade services in AliCloud as part of a broader public-cloud expansion. This is more than a lift-and-shift migration.
Responsibilities
- Research AliCloud services and map them to application, infrastructure, networking, storage, identity, and data requirements.
- Build and configure new production and pre-production environments in AliCloud.
- Containerize applications and deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and operate workloads on Kubernetes or an equivalent managed offering.
- Modify application and service code where AliCloud does not provide direct parity with existing infrastructure or managed services.
- Design pragmatic year-one cloud solutions that get critical services running well, while preserving a path toward greater platform consistency as the environment matures.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment. Manual production deployment should be minimized or eliminated.
- Evaluate managed database and data-service alternatives for workloads using technologies such as MongoDB, Cassandra, CockroachDB, or PostgreSQL-compatible systems.
- Support data migration, backup and restore, configuration, and operational integration for managed data services.
- Troubleshoot across compute, networking, storage, Kubernetes, application, and data layers.
- Implement and use observability through metrics, dashboards, logs, and alerts using tools such as Prometheus and Splunk or comparable platforms.
- Prototype competing technical options, document tradeoffs, recommend a direction, and drive implementation with limited day-to-day guidance.
- Collaborate with our engineering teams while independently owning the research and execution needed to move the migration forward.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Strong production Kubernetes experience, including application deployment, Pod and resource troubleshooting, service-to-service connectivity, configuration, and operational telemetry.
- Strong public-cloud experience with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or another major public-cloud platform.
- Ability to ramp quickly on unfamiliar cloud technologies and independently research competing managed-service options.
- Software engineering experience in Go, Java, Python, or another general-purpose language. Most team needs are expected to favor Go, with some Java-aligned work.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, and storage.
- Experience with managed database or data-service offerings and the application implications of changing underlying data platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment or infrastructure provisioning.
- Experience in troubleshooting production distributed systems across application and infrastructure boundaries.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity, reliability, and production-readiness practices.
- Strong self-starter behavior, technical research skills, written communication, and ability to operate effectively through ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct AliCloud experience.
- Cloud-to-cloud migration, data-center-to-cloud migration, or experience standing up a new cloud environment from scratch.
- Experience modifying applications to accommodate differences between cloud-native managed services.
- Go development experience for backend and platform services.
- Java development experience for cloud service work.
- Experience with Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana, or similar observability tooling.
- Experience with identity and access management, secrets, or authorization platforms.
- Experience building deployment automation when an existing internal platform does not directly support the target cloud.
- Experience in environments where platform engineers are expected to write and maintain production software.
