Platform Engineer, Systems Engineering

Job Purpose

The Engineer will drive enablement and adoption to migrate high performant and critical applications into a microservices model utilizing container technologies by working closely with our development and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift platform infrastructure
• Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, propose, and implement solutions
• Support to, and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users
• Education and mentor platform consumers, team members and operations staff
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support
• Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
• Troubleshoot platform issues and underlying configuration
• Create, maintain, and support Infrastructure-as-Code for Kubernetes Platform

Requirements

• Degree in computer science/engineering discipline or equivalent experience in platform engineering
• Understanding of major Kubernetes components and familiarity with Kubernetes concepts
• Horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
• Comprehension of top-tier analytics and problem solving
• Able to work in a service-oriented team environment
• Project Management, organization, and time management
• Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
• Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources

Qualifications

• Experience with self-managed Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
• Experience with OpenShift deployments on-prem and in commercial clouds
• Experience with Kubernetes policy engines, e.g. Kyverno
• Experience with Docker and/or Podman
• Experience with build automation and configuration management
• Advanced scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML)
• Experience with configuration management tools e.g. Ansible, Puppet, etc.
• Familiarity with AI toolsets and agentic troubleshooting
