About the role
As a cloud computing application architect, you will lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and modern cloud solutions supporting Public Health data modernization initiatives. You will work with engineers, product teams, and data modernization stakeholders to inform strategy and design, ensuring standards are met throughout implementation and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and deployment of secure, cloud-based architectures
- Develop and deploy solutions in AWS and hybrid cloud environments
- Optimize cloud cost management and implement governance frameworks
- Deploy and troubleshoot IaaS environments and Linux or Unix-based systems
- Recommend tools and solutions based on research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid resources
- Oversee team members in overcoming the client's most difficult challenges in the cloud
- Broaden skill set in automation, cloud-based security, and modern DevOps practices
- Develop critical systems that advance national Public Health outcomes
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with software implementation, design, solution, application, or technical architecture
- 7+ years of experience with software development using languages such as Python, Dotnet, or Java
- Experience leading technical teams of 20+ engineers and being client-facing
- Experience architecting and deploying solutions in AWS and hybrid cloud environments
- Experience with Gen-AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude
- Ability to be hands-on and drive projects forward while keeping releases on track
- Ability to navigate competing priorities, discern technical solutions, and communicate with stakeholders
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Nice if you have: Experience optimizing cloud cost management and implementing governance frameworks, experience with public health field processes and data modernization efforts, and federal IT environments, a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional Certification, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification
