About the Role
The Plant Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations of the aggregate plant, ensuring efficient production and compliance with environmental regulations. This position assists the Plant Manager in managing mine development through stripping and reclamation operations to achieve optimal utilization at the lowest operating cost while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervises activities of hourly employees conducting land stripping and reclamation functions.
- Performs hands-on repair work when necessary.
- Plans and prioritizes objectives to meet budget parameters and scheduling requirements.
- Participates in the recruitment process, including screening and hiring hourly employees.
- Schedules department requirements to support daily, weekly, and monthly material processing operations.
- Provides coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees.
- Assigns work based on production needs and manpower planning.
- Collaborates with the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) department to promote a safe work environment compliant with State and Federal regulations.
- Works closely with plant management to ensure mine development and reclamation activities meet expectations.
- Implements cost-saving programs and continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Participates in short- and long-range business planning for Operations.
- Conducts regular department inspections.
- Monitors and maintains plant equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; BS/BA degree, Associate degree, or equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land stripping and reclamation activities.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Construction materials industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of modern supervisory principles and practices.
- Understanding of all phases of mine development, including land clearing, stripping, and reclamation for sand and aggregate facilities.
- Ability to perform hands-on work when required.
- Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.
- Strong organizational, business planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop performance measurements and meet or exceed goals.

Work Environment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
- Must be able to drive a pickup truck daily.
- Proficient in using computerized equipment and technology.
- Work environment includes both indoor office settings and outdoor quarry/plant conditions.
- Exposure to unprotected heights, moving machinery, dust, fumes, gases, and temperature/humidity changes.
- Required to use hand tools, power tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must present complex information clearly and work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment.
