Plant Supervisor - 2nd Shift

To coach and guide a team of employees to achieve optimum levels of productivity, quality, and safety while meeting operational deadlines and budgets. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training employees, maintaining a high-performance work environment, and addressing performance or behavioral issues.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all production and distribution objectives and deadlines within the established budget.
  • Teach, coach, and demonstrate work activities for team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary functions.
  • Coordinate, assign, and review work, directing staff on priorities.
  • Ensure all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, equipment use, performance standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain timely, effective, and professional communications with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Handle record keeping, filing, and administrative duties as required.
  • Report any accidents or incidents within 24 hours and complete necessary documentation.
  • Monitor working conditions to ensure team safety, taking corrective or disciplinary action as needed.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Kaizen) to resolve personnel and quality issues promptly.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Work directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Requirements

  • Basic math and reading skills (high school diploma or equivalent).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant managers, sales staff, and warehouse personnel.
  • Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience.
  • Warehouse experience with forklifts, packing, and measuring.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
  • Safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of metals handling, including proper staging, processing, packaging, and shipping.
  • First aid and CPR training.
  • Exposure to labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, lean practices, and sales functions.

Pay

$65,000 - $97,000
