About the Role
Air Products is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor for our Marion, IN facility, which produces liquid CO2. This role supports all aspects of day-to-day plant and terminal operations, including customer interface, business interface, safety and environmental compliance, maintenance budgeting, and employee training. The successful candidate will gain a comprehensive understanding of the site’s operation, distribution, and maintenance activities, with a focus on leadership as a front-line supervisor. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Manage the site’s Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management, driving toward a goal of zero safety incidents.
- Ensure environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products corporate and governmental regulations.
- Understand safe operating, design, and permit limits.
- Support day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities, and managing plant projects.
- Identify maintenance concerns, develop and implement corrective measures with the maintenance team, and carry out preventive maintenance and mechanical integrity programs.
- Interface with the source ethanol plant, customers, and the Air Products commercial team.
- Implement and share best practices.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, including understanding and correcting the root cause of failures.
- Support day-to-day operation and maintenance activities for drivers, including DOT driver logs, driver safety meetings, driver observations, and coordination of fleet maintenance.
- Identify and develop talent while promoting teamwork and driving the site toward operational excellence.
- Display clear communication with employees and effectively manage workload with respectful communication with support teams.
- Understand the larger picture and consider the implications of decisions.
- Provide vacation relief for process operators and ensure plant coverage when issues arise. (Position requires on-call responsibilities and weekend coverage every other week.)
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 5+ years of relevant operations and maintenance experience in an industrial plant is required.
- A degree in engineering or a technical field is preferred but not required.
- Military experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to develop talent.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong administrative and computer skills.
- Availability to be on call.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
