Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including issuing purchase orders and tracking order status
- Source materials and components to support production requirements
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and identify new vendors as needed
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and resolve issues
- Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules
- Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP or procurement systems
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure appropriate stock is maintained
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory processes
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Partner with operations to optimize inventory turns and minimize excess/obsolete stock
- Assist in developing and maintaining production schedules based on material availability and demand
- Cook up schedules as needed based on supply constraints or changes in demand
- Ensure materials are available in alignment with production timelines
- Cook up incoming and outgoing shipments with carriers and internal teams
- Support receiving processes, including verification of shipments against purchase orders
- Address shipment discrepancies or delays with vendors and logistics providers
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations preferred
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
- Manufacturing experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management
- Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of vendors, customers, dealers, co-workers and management in order to achieve optimum plant performance
- Familiarity with inventory control and production planning concepts
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or similar tools)
Physical Demands
- Regular use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes.
- Limited use of respirator.
- Vision requirements; close vision.
- Regular use of computer, peripherals, and lifting up to 40 pounds from floor level to overhead.
- Regular use of PPE as required.
- On-site role supporting a small manufacturing facility.
- May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, operating equipment, vehicles, heavy machinery, loud noises, cross-functional collaboration with production, operations, and suppliers.
