About the Role
This position is responsible for integrating, planning, and executing production at the plant level to drive efficiencies. The role includes managing the item creation process, ensuring data accuracy, and coordinating input across all functional areas within the plant. You will evaluate, approve, and enter substitute or alternate BOMs and routings, requiring advanced knowledge due to the complexity of item specifications and plant machinery.
Responsibilities
- Accurate forecasting and inventory management.
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
- Optimize machine utilization, efficiency, and productivity.
- Create and maintain items, product definitions (specifications, routings, and bills of material), and associated data attributes in Oracle.
- Drive cost savings through material yield, minimal scrap, minimal reel changes, reduced abnormal operating practices, and minimal maintenance downtime.
- Ensure on-time customer delivery.
- Participate in weekly S&OP calls, providing timely and accurate plant input, reviewing forecast accuracy, and executing the S&OP plan for supply and production planning.
- React to monthly, weekly, and daily forecast changes affecting supply and production planning.
- Collaborate with buyers to ensure timely, efficient, and optimized execution of purchase orders.
- Manage inventory and material, ensuring front-line accountability and tracking inventory progression.
- Work with buy planners to reduce raw material inventory through the use of substitutes.
- Ensure the right inventory is available in the right quantity at the right time.
- Work with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) to review and determine MTS vs. MTO items, manage aged finished goods inventory, and maintain order book accuracy.
- Troubleshoot customer complaints and resolve issues within the plant.
- Identify substitutes for new items, reduce unnecessary over-specification, and minimize over-engineering of items.
- Collaborate with regional buyers to determine when new raw material items are needed.
- Participate in plant leadership meetings and conduct regular integration meetings at the plant level.
- Manage item master creation, including sending data into Oracle (e.g., forms, documentation, purchase orders, prints, and specifications).
- Create new items with details such as item number, bill of material, routing, customer cross-reference, customer specification, item specification, routing instructions, and unit of measure conversion.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of machine capabilities and performance.
- Advanced understanding of the entire process flow from raw material through production to customer delivery.
- Knowledge of personnel capabilities and customer requirements.
- Ability to act quickly and professionally in response to frequent unplanned changes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven teamwork and leadership skills.
- Experience with inventory controls and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Email) and Oracle.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and Adobe for TMI creation.
- CPIM Certification.
- Influencing skills to establish trust, credibility, and rapport at all organizational levels; seen as humble, direct, and authentic with a professional presence.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires daily onsite presence.
- Primarily office-based, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.
