Plant Operations Assistant

Location: 4440 S Mendenhall Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38141
Shift: 8hr-1st Shift

About the role

The Operations Assistant will assist in all aspects of purchasing and inventory for a HDPE extruded plastics products factory. This role includes hands-on involvement in purchasing, inventory management, and related administrative tasks within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Enter production reports and perform data reconciliation for materials produced and used daily.
• Create and manage purchase orders for stock and non-stock items, scheduling deliveries with vendors.
• Receive and verify incoming purchase orders to ensure items arrive as specified.
• Interact and develop strong working relationships with vendors.
• Monitor safety stocks of materials and update vendor lists as needed.
• Perform and enter bi-monthly cycle counts into the JDE system.
• Provide backup support for shipping and receiving functions.
• Operate within the JDE inventory system, database, and Excel spreadsheets.
• Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Basic mathematical skills.
• One to three years of experience in purchasing and inventory within a manufacturing environment.
