Responsibilities
- Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs requiring new equipment or retooling of existing equipment.
- Prepare all sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases (e.g., continuity testers, alignment equipment, balancers, uniformity equipment).
- Gather relevant product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
- Prepare equipment operators by assisting the launch team with training and providing reference and support resources.
- Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
- Monitor and support plant equipment installation and launch.
- Work with the PC&L team to optimize material flow to the production line.
- Understand Android operations (sequencing/subassembly, shipping, and receiving).
- Be responsible for equipment certification and run-off; provide feedback and escalate issues to leadership.
- Ensure proper Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Act as a liaison with plant team members to drive lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals into new production processes.
- Coordinate program change requests.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance to improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, lower costs, and enhance quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineers to integrate Quality (PFMEA, Reverse PFMEA, Control Plan, Error-proofing) into assembly processes and equipment design.
- Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
- Maintain equipment records by filing documents and updating the equipment database.
- Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality and cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
- Work effectively in a team environment with a positive attitude.
- Interact with, lead, and develop people while continuously improving all areas of the business.
- Consult on and oversee the selection and implementation of automation and robotics in assembly processes.
- Manage activities using the Process Development System according to the developed Manufacturing Engineering timeline.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing.
- 2+ years of experience with the APQP system.
- Supervisory experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.
- Minimal travel required.
Skills
- General understanding of manufacturing processes, Android operations (sequencing, sub-assembly, shipping and receiving, and tooling).
- Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly applications.
- High level of analytical ability and problem-solving skills for unusual and difficult problems.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
- Proficient with GD&T, process diagrams, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members, including manufacturing, engineering, and executive leadership.
- Working knowledge of IATF quality system.
- High-level computer skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
