About the Role

The Plant Manager / Director of Assembly provides director-level leadership of the Butcher Power Products assembly facility, overseeing the assembly and wiring of Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Equipment. This role sets direction, standards, and priorities across assembly and wiring design functions, partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment with the production plan.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly & Wiring Oversight: Oversee assembly and wiring, setting standards and priorities while department leaders manage point-to-point wiring, panel build, and final assembly.
  • Operational Leadership & Cross-Function Alignment: Set operational direction, align supporting functions, and meet production, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Production Planning & Throughput: Direct production planning and capacity strategy to ensure on-time throughput.
  • Quality, Workmanship & Build-to-Print Conformance: Enforce workmanship and ISO 9001 standards, ensure build-to-print quality, and partner with Quality to improve first-pass yield.
  • Team Development & Workforce Planning: Develop leaders and workforce capabilities, including skills certification and succession planning, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Supply Chain, Warehouse & Logistics Collaboration: Align incoming materials, warehouse management, and shipping logistics with production plans and customer commitments.
  • Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance: Champion a zero-incident safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce cycle time, rework, and cost while improving productivity and quality.
  • Financial Management & Cost Control: Manage the assembly operating budget to meet margin and productivity objectives.
  • Reporting & Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on KPIs such as output, efficiency, scrap, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing operations experience with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Direct assembly or electrical-build leadership required.
  • Background in Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Equipment or electromechanical build-to-print / engineer-to-order manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly workmanship standards, production planning, and quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Lean/Six Sigma and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with P&L or operating-budget ownership.
  • Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
