About the role
The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring high-quality product production, efficiency, and adherence to budgeted costs. They drive strategic plans to meet production goals and deliver financial results.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the facility provides the highest quality products produced in the most efficient manner within budgeted costs.
- Implements systems to effectively manage production schedules, supporting the business.
- Leads the effort and drives Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques, fostering continuous improvement within the facility.
- Acts proactively in problem resolution.
- Manages profit and loss for the facility and drives Plant performance, reviewing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regularly (Daily, weekly, and monthly).
- Led overall strategic planning efforts for the location, including cost reduction initiatives, capital planning, and resources.
- Manages safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and other administrative functions for the facility.
- Leads efforts to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient operation, adhering to company guidelines and regulations.
- Strives to improve the plant’s safety accident record annually, creating a positive safety culture for all employees.
- Conducts safety walks of the facility weekly.
- Conducts talent reviews and trains, develops, and motivates staff to optimize the workforce.
- Schedules and conducts plant communication meetings for all employees.
- Interfaces with customers and suppliers, visiting as necessary.
- Works to establish positive community relationships.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and/or process improvement roles, including managing teams of people.
- Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus.
- Proven experience and record of successes in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Experience with plastic injection molding environment and metal processing/metal forming strongly preferred.
- Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with process development and business process design.
- Experience managing to ISO or equivalent quality standards.
- Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System (e.g., Toyota Production Systems).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required.
