About the role
JELD-WEN is seeking a Plant Manager to join their growing team. The Plant Manager will oversee all plant operations, focusing on production, safety, and quality, while aligning with JELD-WEN’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all plant operations in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Values, Mission Statement, and KPIs.
- Coordinate all plant activities by working with Production and Departmental Managers to ensure timely, cost-effective completion of manufacturing objectives using LEAN manufacturing processes.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for safety, production, and quality standards.
- Work with R&D and Engineering in developing scope of work/specs.
- Develop and control plant budget to maximize profits by utilizing JELD-WEN’s operating systems (JOS), SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and CI initiatives.
- Implement cost-effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and manage capital assets/projects.
- Work with R&D and support departments in testing and implementing new materials and product lines.
- Coordinate plant and production activities through strategic planning with Director of Operations and the VPO, ensuring alignment with KPIs.
- Oversee the implementation of safety and preventative maintenance programs, driving safety procedures and plant cleanliness.
- Incorporate shop floor organization with applicable Process Engineering personnel to ensure production processes are effective.
- Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively.
- Read/interpret product drawings and schematics.
- Coach/mentor managerial personnel and instill cultural values in all plant personnel.
- Show superior motivational skills, ability to train, and drive CI methods.
- Travel up to 15% +/-
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field or Associate’s degree in a related field with 10 years’ experience in a managerial capacity at JELD-WEN may be substituted for advanced degrees or an equivalent combination of education/experience at the discretion of management.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the millwork industry.
- Strong knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems, and standards.
- Advanced leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and drive manufacturing process improvement techniques through the production process.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, but not limited to, JELD-WEN Operating Systems (JOS), SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
- LEAN manufacturing and production process experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other applicable software applications.
- Strong knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance.
Skills
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Advanced knowledge of management principles and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and purchasing.
