Plant Maintenance Lineman 1

We’re looking for a candidate who can work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and construct our plant infrastructure.

About the role

You’ll build and maintain aerial and buried coax, copper, and fiber-optic cables following Armstrong’s construction practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and transfer aerial and underground HFC, FTTH, and telephone plant
  • Climb poles and ladders; work aloft using climbing gaffs, ladders, and mechanical lifts
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment including bucket trucks, fork lifts, backhoes/trenchers, and other machines
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Read and interpret network design prints
  • Accurately maintain daily log sheets and inventory paperwork
  • Apply NEC construction guidelines and Armstrong construction practices
  • Follow all Armstrong safety policies
  • Maintain vehicles and machines to Armstrong standards
  • Perform other assigned tasks

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to learn
  • Physical ability to climb, lift, and carry a minimum of 75 lbs
  • Physical fitness to meet weight limits for ladders and lifts and handle labor-intensive demands
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work rapidly under time pressure
  • Sound judgment and ethical decision-making skills
  • Availability to work after business hours as required (e.g., storm damage)
  • Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance on a rotating schedule
