Plant Maintenance

About the role

Martin Marietta is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician at the Lotawana Quarry in Lees Summit, MO. The position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and installing equipment for surface mining operations, with an emphasis on troubleshooting, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety programs and training, promoting Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel culture.
• Disassemble machines and remove parts for repairs using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, or hoists.
• Inspect equipment for signs of wear.
• Collaborate with team members to repair moving machine parts or transport materials between work areas.
• Lubricate machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to standards.
• Tend to equipment such as conveyors to move materials through production processes.
• Perform basic maintenance on heavy mobile equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication activities as needed.
• Work in a team environment and maintain clean work areas.
• Wear personal protective equipment properly.
• Notify supervisors of repairs needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (required).
• Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, and maintenance.
• Physical ability to work outdoors year‑round, in elevated areas, and perform general physical activities such as climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, and handling material.
