About the role

Operate a wheel loader for daily operations in a concrete plant and/or gravel pit on an as-needed basis to manufacture concrete and aggregate products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in concrete and aggregate production
  • Monitor and sort incoming aggregates
  • Operate wheel loader
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Communicate effectively and advise plant operator of problems, potential problems, or schedule difficulties
  • Collaborate with co-workers and other employees
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment; exhibit safe work behaviors
  • Evaluate work area for hazards; eliminate or control hazards
  • Wear all prescribed PPE
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping
  • Participate in daily safety huddles and safety training; follow safe work plans
  • Read and understand hazard signs, training materials, work plans, and instruction manuals
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years working in concrete and/or aggregate production
  • Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including heights, moving vehicles, and stopped traffic
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, and dirt
  • Indoor office conditions with regular exposure to office equipment
  • Lift, push, pull, pour, or carry heavy objects and loads of material
  • Walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Bend, stoop, squat, and reach to move materials
  • Climb in, out, and under equipment; lay or stand under equipment
  • Use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Use good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs
  • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8–12 hours per day
