Plant Leader
About the Role
The Starr Plant Leader is accountable for leading business change and the continuous growth and development within the facility. This role requires an outside-in perspective to understand customer success and manage all plant operations, providing vision, strategy, and leadership to achieve the highest standards of safety, engagement, costs, productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service.
Reports to: Operations Director, Technical Insulation. This position has 6 direct reports and oversees approximately 150 employees.
Responsibilities
- Lead safety and security initiatives to create an injury-free work environment, adhering to the OC Safety Stand: "All accidents are preventable, safety is everyone’s responsibility, working safely is a condition of employment."
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors, demonstrating passion and caring for people while treating safety as the first priority.
- Establish and implement a clear measurement system to drive safety results, rewarding safe behaviors and ensuring accountability.
- Develop a culture that embraces the goal of zero defects for customers, raising the level of quality systems and service to foster strong customer relations.
- Ensure open communication between the facility and its customers, resolving quality and service concerns in a timely manner.
- Develop and execute the plant’s business strategy, aligned with company, business unit, and Technical Insulation Operations vision, focusing on:
- Safety for an injury-free work environment.
- People strategy, including talent development and acquisition.
- Operational Excellence through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to achieve zero accidents, zero defects, and zero breakdowns.
- Sustainability and environmental compliance/stewardship.
- Customer service and satisfaction.
- Provide effective vision, leadership, and direction to plant personnel to create an injury-free environment and engage employees in an inclusive work culture.
- Partner with sales and customers to cultivate a customer-focused culture that drives incremental sales and incorporates customer perspectives in all business activities.
- Control and reduce operating costs by identifying and seizing opportunities to enhance efficiencies, streamline processes, and leverage resources.
- Drive sustained revenue growth and enhance product and service quality.
- Ensure effective environmental controls and year-over-year improvements in sustainability.
- Maintain consistent compliance with all applicable legal requirements (safety, environmental, financial, etc.).
- Lead transformative cultural change to drive value creation and innovation, fostering inclusive behaviors that attract and engage a diverse employee base.
- Develop talent through effective performance management, talent evaluation, and staffing strategies to meet both near-term and long-term succession needs.
- Invest in the growth and development of high-potential talent.
Requirements
- A minimum of eight years of broadening industrial assignments and experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing leading people in a cross-functional and complex manufacturing environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Science, Operations, or Business. A related Master’s degree is preferred.
Skills
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous experience as an Operations Leader, Controller, or Supply Chain Leader is typical.
- Business and financial acumen.

- Strong process, engineering, and technical abilities.
