Plant Health Care Technician / Stump Grinder

About the role

As a Plant Health Care Technician (PHC Tech), you will have the unique opportunity to communicate with customers and discuss their Plant Health Care (PHC) needs, as well as selling and applying the needed products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pesticide applications, including but not limited to fungicide and insecticide sprays, and fertilizer applications
  • Able to identify basic insects, diseases, and trees
  • Identify and comprehend chemical labels
  • Contact homeowners upon arrival at the job site, review work to be performed and note any changes or add-ons before beginning work
  • Complete a thorough inspection/evaluation of the entire property for plant health concerns before leaving the job site and submit notes to supervisor, and collect payment
  • Perform fertilization services in accordance with Arbor Masters Tree & Land Management (AMTL) Standard Operating Procedures, ANSI A300 standards, and OSHA safety regulations and utilize safety Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Complete a daily checklist for truck maintenance (including notification of routine maintenance or repair for shop mechanics)
  • Operate equipment such as stump grinders and assist with stump removal as needed
  • Travel from one job site to another, utilizing maps, street guides, and other directional resources

Requirements

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Must have a valid class C driver's license
  • Must hold a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be willing to acquire one
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Ability to complete labor-intensive outdoor work with exposure to a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and lift in excess of 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Possession of a Certified Pesticide Applicator License is preferred
  • Industry experience or an Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred
