Plant Engineering Leader
About the role
The Technical Leader (Plant Engineering Leader) provides all aspects of technical leadership to the plant, reporting to the Plant Leader and serving as a member of the plant leadership team. There is also a functional reporting relationship to the ISB Technical Leader in Granville, OH. This role oversees 7-15 direct reports, including Manufacturing Engineers, Quality/CI Engineers, Packaging and Process Engineers, and participants in early career development programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead for an injury-free environment by adhering to OC Safety Stand and utilizing technical knowledge to ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Drive technical excellence and process optimization by understanding manufacturing process capability, reducing variation, and ensuring product quality and consistency.
- Steward ISB Manufacturing process standards and leverage best practices for rapid deployment.
- Identify, lead, and implement process improvements from the Process Innovation Team.
- Participate in the scope development and execution of major projects, including rebuilds, to meet safety, performance, schedule, and cost goals.
- Drive understanding of customer requirements and their relationship to plant process variables to ensure products meet customer needs.
- Share accountability for delivering the plant operating plan with other plant leadership team members.
- Lead FI Pillar and additional TPM activities.
- Drive alignment between plant departments, share best practices, and provide candid feedback to foster teamwork.
- Support cross-functional projects and assist the Plant Leader with additional duties as required.
- Develop talent by creating a culture of effective performance management and talent evaluation.
- Staff the organization with competent talent using a mix of internal and external resources to meet succession needs.
- Act as a Development Coach for MLPs and Interns.
- Understand and communicate customer expectations through standard work and team communications.
- Ensure processes reliably provide products meeting customer performance and schedule expectations.
- Facilitate a culture of effective customer relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive technical experience in a manufacturing environment; fiberglass process experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading people.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.

- Proficiency in Owens Corning systems and software required for the role.
