Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the asphalt production facility.
  • Managing mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Coordination with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Implementing process improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Supporting the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
  • Making calculations for differing load sizes.
  • Loading Hot Mix Asphalt into haul trucks.
  • Operating controls to batch material.
  • Reading and writing delivery tickets to determine mix design.
  • Performing pre and post shift inspections.
  • Reporting condition of plant for items needing repair.
  • Performing repairs to the plant (major and minor).
  • Shoveling aggregate material from area to be repaired.
  • Shoveling and sweeping spilled materials from walkways.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of specifications of different finished materials and equipment capabilities.
  • Experience in batch plant operation.
  • Previous experience on various types of heavy equipment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in batch plant operation.
  • Good mechanical repair, accurate math skills, and concise communication skills.
  • One to three years of Plant Operator experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the processes and procedures involved in the production of various asphalt products.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental issues related to asphalt plant operations.
  • Ability to think logically and problem solve.
  • Good perceptual skills, motor skills, and ability to recognize plant-related symptoms and dangers.
  • Ability to make sound judgments to prevent accidents.
  • Computer literacy.
  • The ability to perform basic math operations.
  • The ability to read and understand instructions.
  • The ability to work varying schedules to support customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to climb ladders, lift plant components up to 50 pounds, work at heights of up to 100-feet, and move in a variety of body positions.
  • Must have the ability to operate crane, forklift, and/or skid loader.
  • Must have the ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be dependable, conscientious, and able to pay close attention to detail.
