Plant Engineer
About the role
You will provide project support for Burns Harbor, IN, Gary, IN, and associated satellite plant operations. Lead and support capital projects, process improvements, and infrastructure upgrades from concept through completion. Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems to resolve reliability and performance issues. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost performance. Monitor equipment performance data and drive corrective actions for underperforming assets. Maintain and update documentation including P&IDs, SWDs, and site-specific operating procedures, in accordance with MOC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Execute the Management of Change (MOC) work process, ensuring all changes to systems, equipment, and processes are properly evaluated, documented, and implemented in compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Lead and support capital projects, process improvements, and infrastructure upgrades from concept through completion.
- Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems to resolve reliability and performance issues.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Maintain and update documentation including P&IDs, SWDs, and site-specific operating procedures, in accordance with MOC requirements.
- Travel approximately 15% to support multi-site operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills that strengthen collaboration across operational and technical teams.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products.
- Working knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Able to travel approximately 15% of the time.
- Flexibility in work schedule to support operations during startup, shutdown or unplanned events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with project management tools and software.
