About the role
Covia is seeking a dynamic Plant Engineer for the Junction City Plant located in Junction City, GA. This role plays a crucial part in the Operations team and focuses on safety, process improvement, and customer success.
Responsibilities
- Be a safety leader: Emphasize and prioritize safety with plant personnel. Ensure safety protocols are followed and offer ideas for enhancing safety procedures.
- Collaborate with production on manufacturing processes: Identify areas for improvement that increase both safety and production.
- Identify deficiencies and bottlenecks: Propose solutions to improve plant performance and manage and lead internal projects involving multiple departments and contractors.
- Develop scope of work documents: Create training documents and manuals for new equipment and circuits.
- Support the Maintenance department: Troubleshoot equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis.
- Coach hourly employees: Improve work efficiency and knowledge through coaching on new and existing plant processes and equipment.
- Track and monitor plant performance: Track and monitor plant performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with Engineering and Management: Prioritize capital projects and spending, update process flowsheets and diagrams, and complete annual dust collection flow audits.
- Lead process improvement: Develop enhancement plans that meet all safety, environmental, operating, and market quality objectives.
- Contribute to the Plant’s policies and procedures: Carry out the Plant’s policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an Engineering field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or mining engineering preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience in an Engineering position required.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
