About the role

The Plant Manager at Amcor is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day activities of the facility, ensuring safety excellence, managing financial performance, controlling costs, and fostering a positive culture. This role also involves leading continuous improvement initiatives, supporting other departments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and coordinate the effective and efficient utilization of employees through proactive, high participation work team involvement.
  • Direct all day-to-day activities of the plant consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Foster and enhance the safety culture to achieve safety excellence.
  • Provide operational and employee leadership to the facility.
  • Manage financial performance and make required changes to meet business commitments.
  • Manage all aspects of the plant cost structure including direct and indirect labor, maintenance, and consumable spending.
  • Aid operating management with budgeting, production statistics, cost analysis, justification of capital expenditures, and asset management.
  • Lead the facility in establishing and meeting continuous improvement objectives.
  • Partner with department managers to develop and maintain a positive culture consistent with Berry Global values, behaviors, and mission.
  • Encourage and support the development of all plant employees.
  • Ensure overall performance efficiencies and competitive service level for the plant.
  • Participate in process improvement and cost savings efforts.
  • Incorporate continuous quality improvement principles into daily quality culture.
  • Absorb compliance with state and federal regulatory matters including OSHA, EPA, EEO, and Affirmative Action, Quality Audits.
  • Coordinate the effective utilization of production capacity, staffing, and equipment through planning, organizing, and scheduling.
  • Support other departments by integrating new automation equipment, assisting the Tool Room, evaluating downtime and efficiency reports, and establishing good working relationships.
  • Manage expenses for Tool shop and set-up activities and make recommendations for capital needs.
  • Review new mold development, tooling vendor selection, and negotiate tooling cost.
  • Support and maintain all policies of the company including but not limited to ISO Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement, and standard work procedures.
  • Promote and support Food Safety Program, as well as Food Culture.
  • Determine the approval for new controlled documents or change of existing documents.
  • Coordinate with ISO standards for preventative machine maintenance and comply with documented procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years Injection Molding Experience preferred.
  • 5-10 years Management Experience preferred.

Skills

  • Technical Skills: 5-10 years Manufacturing Process Knowledge preferred.
  • Personal management style that is people-oriented with ability to effectively communicate, motivate, train, and hold accountable.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills Required.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.

Pay

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $147,000; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
