Plant Controller - Glendale, AZ

The Plant Controller will be a critical Accounting & Finance role within the plant leadership team at our brewery in Glendale, Arizona. This position provides financial leadership at the facility, ensuring a well-controlled environment for operations. In partnership with the Glendale plant team and the Chicago corporate team, the Plant Controller will lead standard product cost development, month-end close activities, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP/General Ledger control assurance. The role also includes overseeing plant TTB compliance processes and providing financial support for key operational initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with plant operations to ensure accuracy of production records, develop labor costing models, and provide financial analysis for ad-hoc plant and corporate initiatives.
• Oversee plant TTB compliance, develop and maintain financial and operational controls, and manage audit control testing protocols.
• Lead month-end close activities, including reviewing P&L accounts, ensuring inventory accuracy, and developing management reporting for plant and corporate leadership.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including standard cost creation, variance planning, and cause-of-change analytics.
• Develop and train team members, assess resourcing needs, and build contingency plans to support business objectives.
• Establish budgets, policies, and long-term roadmaps for the department and function.
• Provide day-to-day coaching, mentorship, and performance direction to team members.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience in cost accounting and standard product costing with complex bills of materials.
• Experience in the CPG industry, particularly food and beverage; alcohol industry experience highly preferred.
• Experience building labor costing models.
• Demonstrated expertise using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Comfortable handling large amounts of data with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
• Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
• Adaptable and flexible to changing business needs while maintaining focus on daily and monthly responsibilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• “Can do” attitude with a belief that anything is possible with the right focus.
• Able to work independently and “roll up your sleeves” to drive results.
