Plant Biologist (Entry)

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Controlled Environment Biologist to study plant life and the effects of environmental and physical conditions on row crops such as canola, corn, cotton, and soybeans in greenhouse and growth chamber settings.

About the role

This contract position is based in Chesterfield, MO, and involves working in greenhouse and growth chamber environments. The role requires standing for long periods, working in elevated temperatures during warmer months, and occasional rotational weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Sow seeds and manage plant care.
• Discard non-viable plants and maintain cleanliness.
• Transplant, harvest, and process seeds.
• Stand for long periods and work in elevated temperatures in greenhouses during warmer months.
• Perform rotational weekend work as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in controlled environments and plant cultivation.
• Proficiency in greenhouse operations.
• Knowledge of plant care, maintenance, propagation, and irrigation.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in elevated temperatures.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in agronomy, biology, horticulture, or other life sciences.
• Commercial greenhouse experience is preferred.

Pay

$24.00 - $24.00/hr.
