Planning, Scheduling & Distribution Scheduling Specialist
Role
This position is responsible for Stevens Point Mill paper machine trimming, scheduling, improving trimming efficiency, ensuring correct number of rolls are trimmed, prioritizing patterns by deckle, customer need, wind side, diameter, linear footage, etc. Will plan railcars by working closely with shipping coordinators. Must understand and support continuous improvement programs along with R-Gap reduction, and records retention. Will provide support to PS&D Supervisors on shift as needed, such as carrying the phone or responding to emails. May also provide support for logistics coordination duties as needed, such as planning all orders for transportation on rail, full truck, pool truck, and LTL. Will work closely with customer service, shipping coordinators, Paper Machine crews, and corporate logistics.
Accountabilities
- Optimize trim patterns at the Stevens Point mill.
- Work with Quality Manager and Customer Service to manage mill and cull inventory
- Perform monthly clean-up of shipped order report by unassigning remaining unshipped rolls
- Review customer order specifications during trimming process and communicate these to machine floor.
- The ability to learn and be efficient with various computer software applications.
- Working closely with IT support teams
- Create load plans within both OptiVision and SAP
- Perform monthly clean-up of open orders report provided by Mill Finance
- Create production runs for salvage winders from inventory to reduce PM trim quantities
- Re-trim PM runs as instructed by Mill Planner and Customer Service
- Maintain new material special handling list and email list to WSI
- Update Special Handling in OptiVision
- Maintain actual roll weight data for accurate order trimming
- Clear-block (SAP function) completed PM runs.
- Answer Marketing queries regarding trim
- Communication link between Operations, PS&D Supervisors, and Customer Service.
- Perform monthly audits and hazard recognitions checks to help maintain a safe work environment
- Engage mill team members in safety conversations
- May need to come in off hours for a machine emergency to trim different orders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Requires a minimum of 2 years proven experience in the areas of Planning/trimming, Production, Transportation, or Customer Service.
- Supervisory experience desired.

- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects and issues.

- Proficiency with various software applications (SAP, OptiVision, Mercury Gate, and Microsoft Office)
- Candidate must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
