Status: Full Time (40 hrs per week) | Reports to: Planning & Development Manager | Location: Corporate Office, 420 S. Doolittle Road, Edinburg, TX 78542

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction of new installations and other construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions for installations and layouts.
  • Create reports and complete required regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Prepare files on subdivisions applying for service, including letters of conditions, water service agreements, and exclusion letters.
  • Prepare documentation for projects requiring easements and correspond with landowners to acquire required signatures.
  • Coordinate with the GIS Specialist to ensure all water structures for new developments are added to the mapping system.
  • Create detailed sketches or notes and coordinate bacteriological tests.
  • Inspect materials used in new construction and for bedding pipelines.
  • Act as a liaison between contractors and the Corporation.
  • Assist with interpretation of blueprints and specifications for contractors and address deviations from construction plans.
  • Keep the Planning & Development Manager informed of project progress and deviations from original plans.
  • Provide computed monthly work estimates for contractors.
  • Perform site inspections as needed.
  • Participate in job-specific and corporate training programs, including cross-training within the department.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six years of prior work experience in a related position.
  • Current Texas Driver License and insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter.
  • Type I Waste Water Collection Operator License, Class C Water Distribution License, and Customer Service Inspector license through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Current with TCEQ required coursework for the position.
  • Strong communication skills to present information effectively to employees and management.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong familiarity with blueprints and regulations pertaining to water supply corporation construction and installations.
  • Good judgment and discretion in daily duties.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekends or late hours.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a generally loud noise environment.

Preferences

  • Prior experience working with a water supply corporation or public utility.
