Planner (Tier 1)

About the role

The Hillsborough County’s Community & Infrastructure Planning (C&IP) Department is seeking a Planner I to join their team. This role focuses on integrating transportation, land use, and other community needs in the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze information to develop reports and other projects supporting comprehensive studies, plans, programs, and land development regulations.
• Work under the guidance of more senior staff to support the development, evaluation, monitoring, and implementation of these studies, plans, programs, and regulations.
• Contribute to the bridging of long-term visions established in the Comprehensive and Long Range Transportation Plans with the implementation of specific projects in the development review and capital improvement processes.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in community planning or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with two years of professional experience.
• A desire to develop skills as a planner in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment focused on plan implementation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency with GIS and graphic communications applications such as Sketchup, InDesign, etc.

Qualifications
