About the role
The Material Planner position plays a crucial role in maintaining material requirements and ensuring efficient supply chain operations within Greenbrier.
Responsibilities
- Creates and closes manufacturing orders
- Runs various inventory reports
- Enters purchase orders, requisitions materials, issues/returns production receipts, and creates pick/pack lists using the computer-aided inventory control system
- Creates bills of lading for shipments, enters receivers and adjusts inventory discrepancies, changes product structure, and enters item master and item balance details
- Develops delivery schedules and various other reports
- Communicates with corporate purchasing to requisition parts on purchase orders
- Contacts vendors to follow up on orders and availability of parts
- Affords assistance in cycle counting and makes corrections to material discrepancies by entering changes into the program
- Fulfills safety and housekeeping standards
Qualifications
- Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to follow written procedures
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Clear and effective communication skills
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
- Physical environment requires working both inside and outside in various weather conditions
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment as needed
- Occupation requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling/squatting, reaching forward, reaching upward, handling/fingering, lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs occasionally, and pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs occasionally
