Planner II or III
About the role
The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Planner II or Planner III in the Planning & Zoning Department. The Planner II incumbent is significantly involved in a variety of plan review and long-range planning and development efforts of the city. The incumbent can perform professional planning work of moderate difficulty with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled as a Planner III. A Planner III incumbent requires a higher level of education, experience, and certification and is assigned additional duties and responsibilities from those listed in job description. A Planner III incumbent can perform professional planning work of high complexity and variety with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. A Planner III incumbent leads and/or is significantly involved in complex planning assignments requiring independence and judgment.
Qualifications for Planner II
- Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, or related field
- 4 or more years of professional planning experience
- AICP required within 4 years of employment
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable
- Current AICP preferred
- Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field is preferred and can replace up to 2 years of required professional experience
Qualifications for Planner III
- Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field
- Five or more years of professional planning experience
- AICP is required
- Professional experience in project management preferred
Pay
- Planner II: Grade L - $63,140 - $70,789/YR w/benefits
- Planner III: Grade O - $84,267 - $94,476/YR w/benefits
