Planner

About the role

The Planning Group at LaBella Associates is seeking a Planner to join one of our Upstate NY offices. Our planning team partners closely with municipalities to provide planning and zoning support that strengthens communities and drives sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in preparing reports and analyses including land use plans, strategic downtown/economic development plans, and area/neighborhood plans
• Preparing maps for reports and planning/development analyses
• Aiding in grants
• Assistance with environmental reviews
• Participating in public meetings and community engagement

Requirements

• Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of planning and economic development
  • GIS Mapping
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Graphic skills
  • Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn
  • Outgoing personality
• Qualifications:
  • Master's in urban planning, public administration, or a related field and 1-2 years of experience
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree will also be considered
  • AICP preferred or on track to achieve certification
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, ArcGIS, online applications and mobile applications
