About the Role

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the development, governance, and continuous improvement of maintenance and asset management plans for assigned mobile or fixed plant equipment fleets. This role supports safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance execution by developing detailed maintenance plans, coordinating scheduling activities, and ensuring alignment with operational and asset management objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, MSHA regulations, environmental standards, and Asset Management Framework (AMF) requirements.
  • Develop detailed maintenance plans including labor requirements, procedures, tooling, materials, equipment, and parts required for scheduled work execution.
  • Maintain and manage work orders, notifications, priorities, and scheduling readiness within SAP S/4HANA and CMMS systems.
  • Cookordinator and lead planning, prioritization, scheduling, and plan compliance meetings with operations, maintenance, and support departments.
  • Coordinate and support maintenance activities and planning requirements with contractors, vendors, OEMs, and service providers.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance forecasts and component replacement plans aligned with operational requirements, budgets, and life-of-mine planning.
  • Support outage planning, equipment shutdown coordination, and downtime optimization initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance equipment performance, maintenance efficiency, safety, and cost control.
  • Analyze equipment history and maintenance trends to support reliability improvements and long-term asset management strategies.
  • Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives and ensure timely completion of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) action items.
  • Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and support maintenance strategy optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure proper material availability and logistics support for planned work.
  • Support implementation and utilization of maintenance technologies, planning tools, and asset health monitoring systems.
  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, reliability, tailings, processing, and external support groups to support maintenance objectives and operational priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of maintenance planning experience in the mining industry.
  • Experience with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance work management processes including planning, scheduling, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems, including SAP S/4HANA.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and Visio.
  • Understanding of scheduling tools and resource planning techniques including Gantt scheduling and resource leveling.
  • Knowledge of mining and mineral processing maintenance practices and applicable regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with asset management systems and ISO 55000 principles.
  • Experience supporting reliability improvement and downtime optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with budget development and maintenance cost forecasting.
  • Experience leading cross-functional planning and coordination meetings.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Combination of office and field work within mining and processing environments. Approximately 80% office-based work focused on maintenance planning, forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling activities. Approximately 20% field exposure supporting inspections, coordination activities, and operational support. Regular interaction with maintenance shops, mine operations, and processing facilities. Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs in industrial environments. Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas. Ability to work in both indoor office settings and outdoor field environments.

Additional Information

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty'. Additional training and/or testing may be required.
