The Bloomfield, Nebraska facility is one of our only cage-free locations, producing liquid egg product for further processing. Bloomfield is a small-town community located less than 30 miles from recreation areas for fishing, boating, kayaking, and camping.

About the role

Responsible for working with all aspects of our pullet houses to provide an excellent environment and quality care for our laying hens.

Responsibilities

• Ensure pullets have the proper amount of water, feed, temperature, and a clean house.
• Maintain daily UEP records on water, feed, mortality, ventilation, and maintenance.
• Work closely with the Lead and Pullet Supervisor.
• Move birds as needed.
• Maintain feed chains, light bulbs, fans, motors, and screens in working order.
• Perform daily bird runs.
• Complete all maintenance and repair work immediately; report issues to lead or supervisor.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Run manure belts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• No prior experience or training required; previous animal care experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and reports.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
• Free of asthmatic or breathing conditions due to dusty environment.
• Ability to work on ladders, climb steps, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Ability to stand for most of the shift, walk 550’ long buildings multiple times per day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
